Mission Statement:
Restoring Lives West, Inc. is a Christian ministry on the Westside of Indianapolis reaching out to homeless and at-risk young adults with the compassion of Christ in an environment of God’s love. Restoring Lives West, Inc. empowers youth by providing street outreach, a youth drop-in center and referral to social services, and educational/job training projects through community relationships.
What the program does:
Restoring Lives West provides case management to individual youth. They help them to make life changes by assisting them with critical daily needs. Those needs include obtaining ID’s, birth certificates, Social Security cards, and transportation. They also receive leads on jobs or housing, and referrals for medical and prenatal programs.
The staff and volunteers build deeper relationships with the youth, through emotional and spiritual struggles. Together with the youth, they develop a comprehensive, long-term service plan with goals and objectives. The youth receive necessary life and social skills such as money management, employability, and home economics, and they get the connections to GED and vocational training programs.
When appropriate the staff will reunify the youth with their families, connect with churches, and network with other service providers. Restoring Lives West, will walk along side them as they connect with the necessary resources to rebuild their lives.
A new site for Restoring Lives West Inc. is under development at 1318 S. Lynhurst Dr., The Restoration Zone will replace the current location within the LBC Community Center. The new site was acquired in the summer of 2009 to meet the growing needs of homeless young people in Indianapolis. As a drop-in center providing daytime physical needs, bible study and one-on-one counseling, a stand-alone center was needed as a place for community volunteers, staff and homeless teens to come together in a safe and loving environment.
This video shows how passionate volunteers from Churches across central Indiana have already begun to restore an historic but severely neglected home. Will you join with us to serve, and give a new beginning for homeless or those without hope through Jesus Christ?
Speedway Christmas Church celebrates 'Christmas in July' as a fundraiser for food and donations each year. We also encourage donations of clothing and household items for RLW to sell at their 'Second Saturday' sale.
